In our quest to bring to best of French wines to our members, we wanted to find a Domain that would make everyone love Gascony. Domaine Uby has everything we were looking for: typical well-made South West wines, a vineyard managed in the purest respect of terroir and vines, and easy drinking wines that we all like to drink on a casual occasion.
But do not misinterpret the concept of easy drinking wines, they are still incredibly well-made and with just enough complexity to step up way above average: clearly wines we would like to find more often in that price range! The regularly awarded wines from Domaine Uby are a great example of what this beautiful region has to offer: fresh and aromatic whites, rich and intense red and of course the typical delicate sweet wines made of the local grapes Gros and Petit Manseng.
Domaine Uby is a family vineyard located in the heart of Gascony, the heart of the Armagnac region. About 20 years ago, the domain was only selling bulk wines but Francois Morel, who is now in charge, decided to completely restructure the domain to make it one of the most recognised of the region. The vineyard is run in “agriculture raisonnée” by reducing the use of chemicals to a minimum and is slowly moving to a fully organic estate.
Lost in the middle of Gascony in the South-West France, the Côtes de Gascogne appellation has enjoyed a growing reputation over the past decade - mainly for its well-crafted and affordable white wines.
