Château Lamartine wine
Château Lamartine is a 35 hectares family estate in the heart of Cahors. Mostly planted with Malbec vines, (the star grape of Argentina!) Lamartine is one of the gems of the region. Its wines show a rare consistency and are praised unanimously by critics year after year. It is the only Cahors in the Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines of 2014!
For our first sale of Cahors, we really wanted to find the right pick, as Cahors wines can be very heterogeneous. To our mind, Lamartine makes amazing quality Cahors without the price tag of the few stars of the region. Vines are perfectly exposed to the sun and Alain Gayraud, who has been managing the Château since 1981, is famous for his environment friendly techniques. His wines are concentrated and complex, reflecting the specific terroirs they come from. A beautiful discovery Your Sommelier is proud of.
