Chateau de Villeneuve wine
Your Sommelier could not be a true French wine specialist without selling these two great appellations from the Loire Valley: Saumur and Saumur-Champigny. Château de Villeneuve is a brilliant - and probably the best - ambassador of the area, producing fresh and fruity Cabernet Franc and complex Chenin Blanc.
Jean-Pierre Chevalier runs the family domain with the greatest passion, using exclusively traditional methods to make the most of each parcel in the organic vineyard. His wines are aged in the local 500-liter barrels, called “tonnes”. They all show great personalities, thanks to the ideal terroir of the Château, a wonderful property overlooking the Loire. Red Saumur-Champigny are fresh, fruity and well balanced, and white Saumur are aromatic and mineral. These are not appellations people drink very often, so this is the good occasion for you to (re) discover them!
The high-end cuvée from Château de Villeneuve is made with grapes from a small parcel around the castle. This is Cabernet Franc at its best: intense, concentrated and persistent.
