Domaine Hubert Brochard Wines

Domaine Hubert Brochard is a 60-hectare estate which has been in the same family for over a century. They elaborate beautiful Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé using the most traditional methods, and we loved their wines. Made exclusively of Sauvignon Blanc for the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds, they are just as you would expect - Sancerre are round and fruity, Pouilly-Fumé are mineral and stony. The Domain also produces a few beautiful upmarket cuvées, which are slightly aged in oak barrels for more flavours and body. Though Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé are widely available in supermarkets and high street shops, you won’t find this quality and price easily!

Like the white Carisannes cuvée, this entry-level Pinot Noir is elaborated by Hubert Brochard's daughters. A simple and light-bodied Pinot Noir with flavours of red berries and violet. A perfect everyday Pinot Noir, even better if you chill it a little.

This lovely cuvée is elaborated by the 3 daughters of Hubert Brochard - CARoline, ISAbelle and ANNE-Sophie - on a 5 hectare vineyard near Sancerre. It shows a typical nose of Sauvignon Blanc (citrus, peach) and is light-bodied on the palate. A simple and refreshing wine, nothing complicated but really well-made. Perfect as an aperitif wine to have at all...

A typical and elegant Pouilly-Fumé! It exhibits fine notes of "fumé" (stony aromas), with hints of lemon, hazelnut and honey. On the palate, it is a light-bodied and refreshing white with a slight peppery finish. A truly amazing example of Pouilly-Fumé, we just loved it. Any amateur of this appellation will be thrilled with it.

Aujourd’hui Comme Autrefois (Litterally, today as in the past) is the medium-range Sancerre of the domain. It is elaborated with the most traditional techniques - no filtration, ageing on lees... A truly authentic Sancerre, coming from old vines in the finest hillsides of Chavignol. Given its late bottling, it will stay fresh and young for an extended...

Partly aged in oak barrels, this red Sancerre is a round and fresh Pinot Noir, which clearly does not suffer the comparison from a classic Pinot Noir from Burgundy. It does have a fine structure with subtle tannins and slight oaky notes. Surprisingly complex for a red Sancerre, it is really worth a try.

Dry, crispy and fruity, this is exactly what we expect from a white Sancerre, the most famous wine from the Loire Valley. It is light to medium-bodied, the aromas of citrus and grass are excellent and intense, with the typical freshness of the Sauvignon Blanc in the mouth. Nothing to heavy, just a delicious white that would be absolutely perfect for a...

This "Cuvée Vieilles Vignes" - old vines - is definitely a very high-end Pouilly-Fumé. Aged in large oak barrels (quite unusual for this appellation), it shows an unusual roundness with toasted and buttery flavours. Very supple on the palate with beautiful and elegant aromas of white peach and citrus. This is a very complex Pouilly-Fumé, one of the most...

"Le Cul de Beaujeu" is a famous super-hilly vineyard in Sancerre. Given the steepness, everything is done by hand with a great care, which contributes to the exceptional quality of this wine. The nose is delicate with elegant aromas of white flower, quince and yellow fruit. The palate shows notes of exotic fruit with a hint of citrus, bringing just enough...
