Domaine La Grange Wine
La Grange is a domain we have recently discovered and it could well become our top pick in Languedoc for 2016. It elaborates gorgeous red wines, getting more recognition year after year. After giving outstanding marks several years in the row to the amazing “Castalides” cuvées, Robert Parker is set to taste the full range in 2016 for the first time. Timing is perfect to snap a few cases before the domain gets increased awareness, which could ultimately mean higher prices.
La Grange benefits from a perfect location, with both a Mediterranean climate and a fresh air coming from the Cévennes Mountains - giving the chance for grapes to ripe just perfectly. Work, work, work is the domain’s key word where respect of the environment, moderate yields and minimal chemical intervention are at the heart of winemaking. Wines are outstanding and you should consider a few bottles if you are a Languedoc amateur. This is a domain we are very proud to have today, which is hardly present in the UK - just yet.
An unusual wine for the region, due to the presence of Merlot in the blend. This Bordeaux-grape brings fruit and softness to the spicy Syrah, creating a lively and elegant red that is less tannic than most Languedoc wines. Its beautiful black fruit aromas and the long, supple finish will convince you without a doubt.
Castalide Edition is the upmarket cuvée of the range, noted 91-93 by Robert Parker. It comes from the Pézenas appellation - often called the "Grand Cru region in Languedoc" by wine amateurs.
