Second wines of Bordeaux Grand Crus
Our members love second wines. They have become a solid trend for Bordeaux Châteaux, allowing them to reach consumers who are not ready to splash on their expensive first wine. Made with younger vines or grapes from specific parcels, second wines generally benefit from the Château's know-how, terroir and prestige. Because its name is on the bottle, an estate has the obligation to elaborate a good second wine - for reputation purposes. This is why Bordeaux amateurs love them - high quality and more decent price!
Second wines are however not all worth it and there is a little digging to do in order to pick the best ones - and this is what Your Sommelier is here for. We have prepared a special selection of second wines from some of the most prestigious Bordeaux Châteaux: Chasse-Spleen, Lynch Bages, Phélan Ségur, Giscours... so many magical names which made Bordeaux's history and prestige. Oh, and if you are into slightly more mature wines, give a try to the Sarget de Gruaud Larose from the brillant 2000 vintage: A velvet wine perfect to drink right now!
