Domaine Saint-Lannes wine

Domaine Saint-Lannes wine

This week is all about well-crafted, affordable wines. Domaine Saint-Lannes is a family estate located in heart of Gascony, between Bordeaux and Toulouse. In a region known for its Armagnac, the Duffour family - owner since the 1970’s - also makes brilliant wines with both local (Colombard, Gros-Manseng, Tannat) and classic grapes (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot). The property is a perfect balance between modern and traditional winemaking technique - all the vineyards benefit from a sustainable agriculture.

The wines of the Domaine are anything but pretentious: simple but authentic wines of the South West. Fresh, aromatic, un-oaked and all very well-balanced, we pretty much liked every single wines we tasted from the Domaine. For this week’s offer we have selected four wines to showcase this under-rated appellation, among which the Côtes de Gascogne Signature: this blend of local white grapes will make you wonder why every pub in the country does not have one like this to replace their tasteless wines!

Signature is a subtle blend of local grapes - Colombard, Gros-Manseng and Ugni-Blanc, well-known for their aromatic features - which has received multiple awards from various critics. The grapes are carefully selected during harvest and the wine is then aged in tanks. This cuvée exhibits fresh aromas of citrus and exotic fruit, with a balancing acidity...

Les Peyrades is a typical and really well-made red wine of Gascony, which we love for this kind of price. It offers a yummy nose of red fruit and spices with a slight hint of mint. Palate is round, well-balanced and has supple tannins to give the wine a great texture. Definitely a top example if you want to discover wines outside the usual appellations!
