Domaine Brunely Rhone Valley wine

Rhône Valley wines - Domaine Brunely

Domaine Brunely is the latest addition to our Rhône Valley partners. We really enjoyed tasting the wines from this Domaine, which has been in the same family for over 200 years now and owns vineyards on all the main appellations of the Southern Rhône: Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Ventoux, Cairanne and of course Châteauneuf-du-Pape. All the ingredients of a well-managed estate are here: sustainable farming practice, modern equipment but traditional winemaking techniques and a deep respect for the terroir and the grapes. Great wines, reasonable prices and the personal touch of the winemaker, nothing more!

Our selection from the estate includes their entry-level Ventoux cuvées in red and rosé, both very easy-drinking but extremely well-made. Then the Côtes du Rhône Villages Massif d’Uchaux, which was our "Coup de Coeur" during the tasting and offers a excellent quality for this price range. We've also decided to go for the Vacqueyras Blanc, a rather unusual but exciting white wine that would delight any Rhône white amateurs. Finally the Gigondas and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, that should be great addition to anyone's cellar.

Southern Rhône rosé are becoming more and more popular as they offer a great alternative to the pale and light rosé from Provence. This Ventoux Rosé, made of Grenache and Cinsault, has a deep pink colour but remains medium-bodied and full of lovely red fruit aromas - strawberries, cherries and raspberries - with a slightly floral finish. Great wine for a...

A wonderful Côtes du Rhône Villages from the small appellation Massif d'Uchaux. This wine was the greatest surprise of the line-up from the Domaine, they were all excellent but this bottle was the cherry on the cake! There is an unexpected complexity here, it opens on aromas or ripe black fruits and spice, tannins are extremely well integrated to the wine...

White wines represent less than 3% of the total production in the Vacqueyras appellation, mainly known for its full-bodied reds. Made from the typical Rhône Valley white grapes - Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Viognier - and aged in tanks on lees, it is a medium to full-bodied wine, with aromas of stone fruits (apricot), citrus and a floral...

Known as Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s little brother, Gigondas wines definitely have their own character and an growing reputation. This 2016 from Domaine Brunely is a blend of Grenache (80%) and Mourvèdre (20%) aged in concrete vats - no oak at all. The result is a medium-bodied wine, developing aromas of ripe back fruit (blackberry, prune), herbs, spices and a...

This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a top wine from a stellar vintage - 2015 has been recognised by many experts as among the best vintages in the Rhône Valley. The Grenache and Syrah grapes are aged in oak barrels for 12 months before blending and a further 12 months in concrete vats. It gives a rich and dense wine that can be drunk young and that should aged...
