Maison Trénel - Bourgogne & Beaujolais wines
Maison Trénel is the latest addition to our Bourgogne range. Founded in 1928 by Claude Trénel, it is famous for its range of Beaujolais and South Burgundy wines but also the production of fruit liqueurs like Crème de Cassis. The estate was managed by the Trénel until 2015 when it was bought by Michel Chapoutier, who is considered by many as one of the most successful winemakers of the last decade. "Beaujolais is a region in renaissance, with a new generation of dynamic winemakers, and we are very confident we'll be able to further develop this high quality négociant company". Trénel’s renown is due both to its high standards in selecting wines, choosing only those which reflect the region’s finest terroirs, and to its artisan production of Bourgogne fruit liqueurs.
When we tasted them, we thought that all the wines from Maison Trénel were extremely well-crafted. Their whites are just excellent and their Beaujolais made us realise that the region was not getting the recognition it deserves. We've heard - and said - a lot about Beaujolais wines and now is the time to start looking at them more closely: the quality has been improving a lot recently and some Crus like Fleurie or Saint-Amour can produce really amazing wines for a terrific value!
