Chateau de Quincay Loire Valley Wines

Château de Quinçay - Loire Valley wines

Château de Quinçay is a family vineyard located on the southern hillsides of the Cher river, at Meusnes. Winemakers from father to son, the Cadart family has been working for five generations to produce amazing wines from their 30-hectare vineyard. Its soils are ideal for the vines and very rich in flint - which used to be extracted to make gunflints for rifles and pistols - and that brings a flinty smoky notes to wine.

Environmental conservation has always been important at the estate and they have been managing the vineyard using sustainable farming practices for over two decades. The estate is Terra Vitis certified since 2000: this label guarantees the production of high quality wines from sustainable farming methods, preserving soils and vines from chemical products. Terra Vitis is the signature of French winemakers who respect their heritage and nature.

The estate produces wines from all local grapes: Gamay, Côt (aka Malbec), Pinot Noir or Cabernet Franc for the reds, Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc for the whites. We've found their range very consistent and after a very enjoyable tasting, we've selected their best cuvées for our members. All the wines here have been tasted and approved by Your Sommelier for their quality and value!

Gamay is the main red grape of the estate and very typical of this part of the Loire Valley. It usually produces light-bodied red wines with strong notes of small red fruits - raspberry, strawberry or cherry - light tannins and can a slightly spicy touch on the finish. This Touraine Gamay from Château de Quinçay was aged for 8 months in vats (no oak),...

Sauvignon Blanc is the classic white grape of the Loire Valley, where the clay and limestone soils are perfect for its development. The Château de Quinçay Touraine Sauvignon is a light-bodied white with a lovely nose of flower (acacia) and fruit (citrus). The palate is highly refreshing with the vegetal and citrus flavours coming out very well. It has a...

Also known for its goat cheese, Valençay is a small town in south-east Touraine producing red wines made of local grapes: Gamay, Pinot Noir, Côt (the local name for Malbec) and sometime Cabernet Sauvignon. This traditional blend is quite unusual and makes red Valençay wines very interesting! This bottle offers an intense nose of fresh red fruits,...

Ante Vinum is made from old vines of Sauvignon Blanc - 50 years old - grown on gavel soils of the east of the appellation. The old vines definitely brings a something to the wine, which is much more that just a classic Loire Sauvignon Blanc! The nose is fine and elegant, with notes of white flower, grapefruit and blackcurrant bud. The palate is soft,...

Sparkling wines are very popular for any type of celebration and one should know that France does not produce just Champagne! Other regions can make great sparkling using what they call the Méthode Traditionnelle, the one used to make Champagne: bubbles must come from a natural fermentation as opposed to adding gas into the wine, for example. Made only...

The Touraine Chenonceaux Blanc is a 100% Sauvignon Blanc white wine made from old vines selected among the best plots of the estate. Like the Ante Vinum, it shows great complexity and roundness thanks to the 55-year old vines but alos a smoky touch brought by the flint soil. The nose is dominated by grapefruit and blackcurrant bud notes while the rich and...
