Clos Floridène is the flagship wine of Denis Dubourdieu, famous winemaker and THE oenology professor in Bordeaux, and his wife Florence. Family domain created in 1982 (the name Floridène comes from the contraction of Florence and Denis), it is located in the South of the Graves appellation and is famous for fair price and great quality. This 2011 is another great catch: it has blackcurrant and wild strawberry aromas with hints of mint, liquorice and smokiness. Fruit and tannins are powerful, silky and fresh. | ![]()

![]() | 88. "From the well-known University of Bordeaux oenology professor Denis Dubourdieu, Clos Floridene is known for the reasonable prices and high quality of both its white and red wines. The 2011 red Clos Floridene displays lots of kirsch, licorice, tobacco and subtle oak and earth. Juicy and succulent with lots of spice, decent acidity for vibrancy, and a precise mouthfeel, this lovely, potentially complex wine will be even better in 2-3 years, and should keep for 10-12 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage."
![]() | 90. "Very solid, with an energetic tarry edge around a core of steeped plum, blood orange and raspberry fruit. Bright floral and iron hints fill the finish, showing sleek acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Best from 2015 through 2019."
![]() | 1*. "Cabernet-Sauvignon is the main red grape of the estate. The 2011 Clos Floridene, despite 12 months ageing in barrel, lets the fruit dominate, associated with slightly smoked wood. We love the bold attack on the red fruit, the balance and silky tannins."
![]() | 15.5-16. "The usual elegance of the wine can be found in this 2011. The precision of the fruit, the minerality, the ample texture, the delicious freshness and the balance characterize this beautiful bottle." |
