Château d'Aurilhac 2009 Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois

“One of my favourite under-the-radar Bordeaux in top vintages.” Robert Parker. Château d'Aurilhac is a great Cru Bourgeois in a great vintage so the combination can only be excellent. Located in a village near Pauillac, the vineyard was completely re-planted in 1983 with the best rootstocks adapted to the local soil, in order to have a wine of a high quality. The result is a medium to full-bodied wine with a nose of ripe fruits and toasted notes. It is dense and full in the mouth and a long finish. Great wine and ready to drink now!

15.5/20 "Blackish crimson. Harmonious, quite zesty nose. Lots of acidity but lots of ripe fruit too. Quite a delicate balance. Not one of the most convincing but, young, it should please."

Decanter.jpg

16/20 "Black red, good spicy fruity wine with warmth and depth."

87-89/100 "Long-time readers know d’Aurilhac is one of my favorite under-the-radar Bordeaux in top vintages. This impressively made Medoc offers a lot of quality for its price. The 2009 reveals copious black cherry, black currant, earth, and spice notes intertwined with a hint of background oak. A luscious texture, a succulent style, and a juicy, long finish suggest it will drink well for 5-7 years."

Château Segue-Longue Monnier is a small estate located in the northern part of the Médoc. The vineyard is being converted to Biodynamic agriculture, which is not that common in Bordeaux! The 2009 is a medium-bodied wine, nose of spices and undergrowth, round and fine tannins. Lovely long finish of dried fruits. Regularly praised by critics and winner of...

Château Saint-Hilaire was born in 1983 when Dutch man Adrien Uijttewaal settled in Northern Médoc. After a few year of supplying the local cooperative he decided to bottle hi own wine and immediately earned a deserved recognition for critics. His 2009 delivers a nose of ripe fruits and grilled notes. In the mouth, it’s a well-balanced combination of dark...

Château Doyac is an excellent Cru Bourgeois to have at home. With 70% of Merlot, it is round, fruity and has a lot of personality. Aromas of red cherry and raspberry on the nose, structure and spices on the palate. It shows a very decent complexity for this price range and we definitely recommend this 2009, which is one of the best vintage ever in Bordeaux.

"An excellent cru bourgeois" according to Robert Parker. Located between Margaux and Saint-Julien, Lamothe-Bergeron has a fine gravel terroir that gives an elegant and classic Haut-Médoc. Red and black fruit, notes of cedar wood, tobacco and sweet tannins. Finishes with a light anise touch. Simply lovely.

Château Andron Blanquet is one of the oldest vineyards in Saint-Estèphe. Since 1971, it has been the property of the Audoy family who also owns the neighbouring estate Château Cos-Labory. The 2009 shows a slightly reserved nose of red fruits, vanilla and toast. On the palate it is strong and powerful, which is very Saint-Estèphe in style, but well...

Tasting starts with a very expressive nose of strawberry jam and spices. Château de Villegeorge 2010 - an outstanding vintage in Bordeaux - is a fruity Haut-Médoc, where fruit aromas are nicely balanced by tannins and a hint of toast from the ageing in oak barrels. Already great to drink today, it also has a great potential of cellaring. This wine has...
