Stuck between the super-prestigious Lafitte-Rothschild and Cos d'Estournel, Lafon-Rochet is a reference in Saint-Estephe, producing great wines with an astonishing regularity. Saint-Estephe wines generally need to spend more time in the bottle to be ready to drink, which is why we have chosen this beautiful 2008. It shows delicious flavours of black currant, plum, spices and earth, with a touch of vanilla coming from oak barrels. A superb bottle - very Saint-Estephe - ready to drink now but will last over a decade in a proper cellar.

88 "A direct red, with a firm edge to the beam of black cherry and black currant fruit. The light chalkiness edge lingers on the tobacco-tinged finish, though the plum fruit fleshes out enough for balance. Drink now through 2014."
2* (Remarkable wine). "This 2008 will not dampen the reputation of this Château. The intense nose is split between black fruit and spices. The same balance comes on the palate, with powerful tannins. This aromatic wine is complex. The long finish and wooden notes call for a bit of patience before enjoying it."
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a 1er Cru Classé of Sauternes, and this 2012 is a brilliant bottle for sweet wines lovers. It offers amazing flavours of orange, lemon and honey, with a real complexity. The palate is rich, showing a perfect balance. Some spices on the very long finish provides even more complexity. A truly beautiful sweet wine that would be...
