"Certainly has more depth than Chasse-Spleen" - Jancis Robinson. This simply explains our choice to pick this bottle, which is a real success. Maucaillou is often considered as Chasse-Spleen's little brother, the most famous Château of the appellation, but it is definitely able to show a similar quality. This 2011 is a pure, balanced mid to full-bodied red, with fruity and floral aromas and a long finish. It will improve in the bottle, but is already a big pleasure today if you open it in advance.

What experts say

16 "Deep crimson with wide cherry rim. Vanilla and blackcurrant aromas, floral too. Sweet and floral on the palate with gentle though quite dense tannins. Deep pile rather than firm with a juicy freshness through the middle. Certainly has more depth than Chasse-Spleen. Plenty of chew on the finish."

87 "Gentle, with supple-edged plum and cherry fruit that has been lightly mulled with soft vanilla and sandalwood notes."

16 "We like this initial nose of liquorice and fruit, with a beautiful intensity. Black fruit is still there on the palate in a solid structure."

1* (Very good wine) "The 2011 offers a generous nose of ripe fruit with well-integrated wooden notes. On the palate it is dense and round, with powerful tannins. A Moulis with a lot of personality, which will improve over the years."
