Very unusual for a Chablis - this one has spent a few months in oak barrels. Only a limited period though, just to give a little hint of wood without masking the fruit and the freshness. The result is surprising and very charming, with lemony aromas and a long finish given by the oak. Highly recommended if you are keen on new experiences!

Food pairing
The oak makes it better to enjoiy with a meal rather than by itself. Fish is the perfect match, like Lemon Sole, or some cheese such as Saint-Nectaire or Reblochon
 
A word about the domain
The Domaine de la Meulière is an independent family estate run by the fifth generation of Laroche, Vincent and Nicolas. 29 hectares of vines across the Chablis appellation, with parcels in some of the best 1er Cru: Les Fourneaux, Vaucoupin and Monts de Milieux. Besides making great classic Chablis they have also decided to think outside of the box and to make “eccentric” wines. 5% of their production is aged in oak barrels which is not very common in Chablis but gives to the wine more oxygen and help the aromas to open up in the glass, without have the oaky taste that you would not want in a Chablis.
