Côtes du Rhône Rouge "Premier Terroir" 2012 - Château Beauchêne

This Côtes du Rhône from Château Beauchêne is a much more than the usual Côtes du Rhône, thanks to the 12 months spent in French oak barrels. The vineyard is located in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape area, and some of the Grenache used in the blend is 100 years old! As a result, wine is smooth and complex with aromas of black fruit, cedar box and sweet spices. An absolutely superb Côtes du Rhône, much better than most low-range Châteauneuf-du-Pape!

What experts say
89/100 Rated 13 in July 2016 Decanter Magazine 50 Top Rhône Reds "Fragrant fresh red cherries with a hint of herbs and an appealing note of orange peel. Barely noticeable tannins deliver a creamy texture to the warm, generous palate which is enhanced by notes of vanilla, chocolate and nutmeg. A bright line of acidity brings vitality and freshness. Ambitious, but it works."
87/100 “In addition to these solidly made Chateauneufs, this estate releases a good Côtes du Rhône, the Premier Terroir. Both the 2012 and 2011 should be consumed earlier rather than later.”
