A great entry-level bottle to discover the Haut-Médoc appellation. Pomies-Agassac is produced by Château d'Agassac on a different vineyard on sandy soils, which gives a round and fruity medium-bodied wine. The nose is very delicate with ripe plum, cherry aromas and peppery notes. On the palate, the wine shows a good balance and a slightly spiced finish.

A word about the domain
The legend of Château d’Agassac says it was built in the 11th century, though the actual castle was rebuilt during the Renaissance. It is not very clear when the production of wine really started but the reputation of Agassac was made in the 19th century, especially in the Netherlands where its wines were particularly appreciated. The last two decades have seen quite some changes after an insurance company acquired the domain in 1996 and converted it to “viticulture raisonnée” in 2004. They have created a unique modern style for their wines that is now widely appreciated by amateurs.
