Château de Fleys is a small estate in Chablis gaining a solid reputation year after year. Its owners, the Philippon family, used to sell most of their grapes to the local cooperative but they now elaborate some wonderful Chablis from their best vine plots - which are among the finest ones in the Chablis appellation.
“Les Fourneaux” is a tiny and beautiful Premier Cru plot with a South West exposure. This sunny vineyard gives intense aromas of ripe yellow fruit and flowers; its lovely buttery structure is balanced by a refreshing minerality. A really elegant Chablis Premier Cru, which has everything we can expect from an unoaked Chardonnay and a little bit more, with this unique minerality from the Chablis terroir.

1* "Small quantity but very nice quality: perfectly ripe fruits on the nose, with a lovely buttery touch. The palate is round, rich and powerful with fruit and minerality. A full and long wine, which should age very well." (previous vintage)
93/100 "Pale hue with brillant highlights. The nose opens up to notes of honeysuckle, white fruit and smoke. Pure, authentic flavours excel on the palate. Generous, powerful mouthfeel. There's nothing artificial about this 1st growth."" (previous vintage)

Le Clos du Château is the latest cuvée form the Philippon family, made exclusively form vines located around the Château and inside closed walls - which is called a "Clos". "Mont de Milieu" is THE parcel Château de Fleys is famous for, and is also one of the most prestigious in Chablis. A Mont de Milieu for just £21 is pretty rare... Also lying towards South, these vines are ideally located and produce powerful and fruity Chablis. Coming from 50 year-old vines, it is a remarkably well structured and concentrated wine with...
This Chablis is also coming from the "Mont de Milieu" parcel but is made of from 80 year-old, low-yielding vines. 30% of the wine is aged in oak barrels. As a result it is a fruity, structured Chablis with intense aromas of exotic fruit and a hint of hazelnut. Very, very elegant Chablis which we can only recommend, especially to amateurs of more buttery...
