La Lionne Blanc 2016 IGP d'Oc - Château de l’Engarran

La Lionne is a white wine made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, coming from strictly selected parcels within the vineyard of the Château - which can clearly been tasted in the glass. It has a nice golden robe with explosive aromas of citrus and white flowers, a buttery structure and a fresh peppery finish. A slightly complex bottle, ideal for amateurs looking for more than just a fruity aperitif white. It is wonderful when paired with a delicate white fish. Value for money is excellent!

What experts say
Jancis-Robinson.jpg

16.5/20 "Hooray! A southern Sauvignon Blanc that doesn't reek! Sharp, snappy, hint of tangerine and begging for goats cheese salad. Absolutely delicious. GV (TC)" (previous vintage)

Wine-Spectator.jpg

87/100 "Presents an enticing aroma of sweet butter and flavors of ripe pear, baked apple and shortbread. Offers creamy notes midpalate, with a finish of lavender and allspice." (previous vintage)

Guide-Hachette.jpg

"This Lioness crunches a bunch of Sauvignon, and the tasters in a fleshy peach, both fresh and well-ripen. In the mouth, a cocktail of exotic fruits, a good balance between roundness and liveliness and a supple finish. Elegant."

Gilbert-Gaillard.jpg

87/100 "Light yellow glowing colour, green reflections. Promising nose, grapevine, citrus, flint. Suave attack, harmonious fleshy mouth that masks his manhood behind a great finesse, natural impression, chiselled aromas, well alert." (previous vintage)

Bronze Medal at Concours des Vignerons Indépendants (previous vintage)

Le Parc is the absolute cherry on the cake. Yes, it is an expensive Languedoc wine, but we have never tasted anything as such in the region. This is an amazing but unusual rosé from Languedoc. It is light and fresh as a Côtes de Provence - which is definitely what we love for a rosé. Ideal for an afternoon in the sun or even better, on a barbecue. Summer is not quite there yet, but you will be happy to have a few bottles ready as soon as the temperature starts coming up!
