The Château de Villeneuve Blanc is a lovely, round and aromatic Chenin Blanc. It shows aromas of flower and white fruits, a slight mineral touch and notes of citrus. A great white wine from the Loire Valley for an aperitif.  You will not usually find this kind of wine at that price: it is definitely a good bargain!

What experts say
Gault & Millau on 2013 vintage: 16.5
“Driven by powerful aromas of flowers, white fruits and wood, this wine is emancipated slowly in order to match with unconstrained our taste buds. A chiselled and dense wine, very fresh, supported by a minty frame.”

Bettane & Desseauve on 2011 vintage: 14.5
“Lean and mineral profile, with citrus notes and a smoky touch mounted on springs.”

Jancis Robinson on 2009 vintage: 17
"Smells wild and beautiful, like a handful of flowers brought in from a mountain meadow. Dry, slender and fine boned. A soft dustiness, tingling minerality. Precise and transparent."

Robert Parker on vintage 2009: 88
“The 2009 Saumur from Chateau de Villeneuve offers pungent citrus rind and snuffed candle wick smokiness in the nose; yellow plum and citrus with saline and pungently flinty mineral notes on a palate of considerable opulence but also bitter concentration of fruit pit and citrus oil; and impressive finishes with grip though also faint heat.”
