Côte-Rôtie "Face Sud" 2012 - Dauvergne Ranvier

Probably the most prestigious appellation for reds from Rhône Valley, Côte Rôtie is one of Your Sommelier's favourite French wines. This one is exceptionally complex, with a powerful nose of black berries and sweet spices. A very silky wine on the palate, perfectly balanced with a long, long finish. In short, we just love it, and so do many international critics!

18.5/20 "Blackish crimson. Extremely intense but like Côte Rôtie essence rather than like any modern red wine. Bone dry finish. Very ambitious. I assume this is a bid to produce a wine in the LaLa mould. Wonderfully cool mellifluous finish."

Wine-Spectator.jpg93/100 "Offers lively aromas of pepper, bay, savory and olive, with a core of dark plum and blackberry paste flavors. The long finish delivers an iron spine, finishing with a racy, mouthwatering feel. Shows terrific vivacity and should cellar well. Best from 2016 through 2026."(2011 vintage)
