Cuvée Nicole 2014 - Domaine d'Aigues Belles

Cuvée Nicole is a similar concept to Cuvée Lombarde: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are blended with the Syrah grape, which brings a lovely spicy character. Like all red wines of the Domaine, it spends time in oak barrels to pick up tannins and enhance the structure. Aromas of black fruit end up on a toasted finish, which lasts on the palate. A beautiful red, and again, at a great price.

15.5/20 "The terroir of Cuvée Nicole is in the Coteaux du Languedoc appellation, but it shown as an IGP d'Oc to be able to add some cabernet and merlot to the dominating Syrah. A structured wine, deep and fresh." (previous vintage)

16.5/20 "Very nice cuvée, full of energy. A lot of structure between the three grapes, more than on the 2010 vintage. Flavours of humus and cedar complete the taste on the palate!" (previous vintage)

For this exciting red wine, the winemaker of Domaine d’Aigues Belle is blending the Bordeaux grape Merlot with local old-vines of Grenache and Mourvèdre. The terroir is in the Languedoc appellation, but the wine is “only” an IGP Pays d’Oc to allow any grape in the mix. The result is a delicious and round red wine, benefiting from a Bordeaux lookalike...

"An icon in Languedoc" from the famous French wine critics Bettane & Desseauve. This is the least we can say for this amazing 100% Chardonnay. Tiny yields, harvest at night to protect grapes, careful vinification and 3 months in French oak barrels: These are the secret ingredients to what is, according to many famous critics, the "best Chardonnay in...

Made of Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, the Rosé from Domaine d'Aigues Belles is a simple and light coloured Languedoc with delicate aromas of peach, citrus and gooseberry. Unlike other rosés in the region, it does not look for any fuss or so-called complexity. It is just a nice and fresh wine to enjoy in the sun!

This is probably our favourite red this week! Cuvée Classique is the most typical Languedoc wine from the Domaine, although it is surprisingly smooth, remaining medium-bodied. Given the exclusive use of local grapes and the ideal terroir, it benefits from the Languedoc appellation. It shows beautiful aromas of ripe black fruit, forest and spices, with a...

It is impossible for us to say if we prefer "Le Blanc" or "L'Autre Blanc" - they are both exceptional white wines, yet quite different from each other - don't hesitate to try them both and come back for more later on! L'Autre Blanc is a complex and subtle blend of the local Roussanne grape with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. It is a medium-bodied white...
