Le Blanc Chardonnay IGP d'Oc Domaine d'Aigues Belles

Le Blanc (Chardonnay) 2017 Domaine d'Aigues Belles

"An icon in Languedoc" from the famous French wine critics Bettane & Desseauve. This is the least we can say for this amazing 100% Chardonnay. Tiny yields, harvest at night to protect grapes, careful vinification and 3 months in French oak barrels: These are the secret ingredients to what is, according to many famous critics, the "best Chardonnay in Languedoc". This luscious white shows complex aromas of white fruit and hazelnut. On the palate, its buttery structure opens up with a long and structured finish, reminiscent of what you can find in Burgundy. Simply amazing!

Jancis Robinson

17/20 "100% Chardonnay. Wonderful smells of ground almonds and lemon peel, then a very very creamy thick palate - like cheesecake. Silky sensuous texture. Biscuity too with a caraway note. Fabulous. Long. Intense. (TC)"

Bettane + Desseauve

18/20 "It has become an icon in Languedoc, a world of complex, spicy and airy flavours by itself. Probably the greatest Chardonnay from Southern France, with its unique style. Just drink it." (previous vintage)

Gault & Millau

15/20 "We like its clean palate, its shiny white and grey colour, its yummy flavours with minty notes, its maturity and roundness..." (previous vintage)

Gilbert & Gaillard

90/100 "Superb light gold. Rich nose of smoky oak backed by honeysuckle, hazelnut, white fruits... Lush, sappy palate. Freshness softens the forcefulness of the oak with fruit waiting in the wings. Cellaring is essential for real enjoyment." (previous vintage)

Cuvée Classique is the most typical Languedoc wine from the Domaine, although it is surprisingly smooth, remaining medium-bodied. Given the exclusive use of local grapes and the ideal terroir, it benefits from the Languedoc appellation. It shows beautiful aromas of ripe black fruit, forest and spices, with a long finish. Tannins are supple, elegant and...

Made of Grenache and Cinsault, the Rosé from Domaine d'Aigues Belles is a dry and light coloured Languedoc with delicate aromas of peach, citrus and gooseberry. Unlike other rosés in the region, it does not look for any fuss or so-called complexity. It is just a nice and fresh wine to enjoy in the sun, perfect for a summer lunch! * Delivery in 3-5...

It is impossible for us to say if we prefer "Le Blanc" or "L'Autre Blanc" - they are both exceptional white wines, yet quite different from each other - don't hesitate to try them both and come back for more later on! L'Autre Blanc is a complex and subtle blend of the local Roussanne grape with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. It is a medium-bodied white...

For this exciting red wine, the winemaker of Domaine d’Aigues Belle is blending the Bordeaux grape Merlot with local old-vines of Grenache and Syrah. The terroir is in the Languedoc appellation, but the wine is “only” an IGP Pays d’Oc to allow any grape in the mix. The result is a delicious and round red wine, benefiting from a Bordeaux lookalike...

Cuvée Nicole is a similar concept to Cuvée Lombarde: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are blended with the Syrah grape, which brings a lovely spicy character. Like all red wines of the Domaine, it spends time in oak barrels to pick up tannins and enhance the structure. Aromas of black fruit end up on a toasted finish, which lasts on the palate. A beautiful...

Le Grand Classique - which has replaced the Cuvée Classique since 2013 - is the most typical Languedoc wine from the estate, smooth and medium to full-bodied. Premier Rolle is the third and latest born white wine from the estate. Rolle vines were planted recently to create this absolutely unique cuvée and 2017 is only the second vintage. However, it has been an immediate success and the wine has been selected as "Ambassador of Languedoc wines" in 2016 and 2017. Half of the wine has been aged in used oak barrels...
