Òbra 2014 Terrasses du Larzac - Domaine du Joncas

"Òbra" (Chef d'oeuvre) is the high-end cuvée of the domain - and it blew us away. Made from very tiny yield (15 hectolitres per hectares, which is not a lot), it is a powerful, tannic yet very elegant wine. It exhibits multiple flavours of red fruit, prune, cherry, Provence herbs and spices. Incredibly complex with a very, very long velvety finish. Top notch Languedoc, possibly in our top 5 ever in the region. Do not hesitate to cellar it if you can, and in any case to decant it 2 hours before serving to make the best of it.

What experts say
17/20 "Stretched like an athlete in the starting blocks. This wine is like a long distance runner with a slender style. A lot of finesse and precision, chiselled tannins and a precise red and black fruit."
Silver Medal at Decanter World Wine Awards 2015 "Damsons, vanilla, cherry and dark, rich chocolate aromas. Distinctively balanced and refreshing with pretty violet hints, ripe cherries, blackberry and fine, integrated tannins. Harmonious and pretty with a spellbinding lightness." (2013 Vintage)
Rosemary George MW - Taste Languedoc Blog "A blend of Syrah and Grenache, aged in stainless steel tank, concrete egg and oak barrel, a small foudre. Quite a firm nose, with ripe fruit, and supple tannins. Nicely structured and beautifully balanced. Very satisfying." (2013 vintage)
