Le Carquelin is a different parcel with soils made of sand and clay, giving a nice minerality to the wine. A big and really elegant Moulin-à-Vent. It is a charming gamay with aromas of dark fruit, plum, hints of sweet spices and flowers, and juicy tannins. Finish is surprisingly long, aromas seem to stay on your palate forever. Definitely a classy gourmet wine!

About the wine
Robert Parker: 92
"The 2011 Moulin-a-Vent Le Carquelin has a strict and linear, yet well-defined nose with blackberry and dark plum fruit intertwined with subtle smoke and mineral scents. The palate is medium-bodied ripe juicy tannins, fine acidity and sufficient tension on the finish to urge another sip. This is very fine and classy. Drink now-2020.”

Bettane & Desseauve: 16
“Beautiful dense and tight structure, the minerality of the Moulin-a-Vent is here, the flesh coats the tannins, it is concentrated and tense.”
