Côte Rousse 2013 Languedoc Montpeyroux - Domaine L’Aiguelière

Côte Rousse is an absolutely magnificent wine made of 95% old Syrah - and it is our little gem this week. It is rare to see such elegance in Languedoc, which is why some might compare this Côte Rousse to a Côte Rôtie. After a slow vinification, wine is aged carefully in oak barrels until the perfect moment. We loved its spicy notes, the concentrated flavours of crushed blackberry and the elegant tannins. The finish is long and has a unexpected little hint of coffee... This is why we love the Languedoc region, for its ability to produce stunning red wines at such a decent price. A must have!

90/100 "Aromas are plush with a smooth blend of mocha and cocoa butter. Grilled meat characters, flint, mineral and pepper fill the palate and the acidity gives the wine excellent length."
