Did you know?
"Vendanges Tardives" means the wine was made from grapes harvested later than usual, when the "noble rot" or Botrytis Cinerea starts to affect the grapes, making them loose almost all their water content. This is how sweet wines like Sauternes, Coteaux du Layon or Tokaji are made.

What experts say

90/100 "From the steepest portion and oldest vines among his holdings in this site, a 2009 Pinot Gris Hinterburg de Katzenthal Vendange Tardive was not, Felix Meyer notes, more botrytized or even higher in must weight than its non-V.T. counterpart. The designation “late harvest” was simply employed in order to single-out the superior wine. Overripe peach, musk melon, and mango combine with gardenia and lily perfume whose liquid rendition helps convey a nearly over-the-top sense of decadent ripeness on this wine’s expansive, creamy, glycerin-rich palate. A saliva-inducing but consistently confectionary note of salted caramel adds savor to a long, soothing finish. Drink this over the next 7-9 years, or at least be very attentive to its subsequent evolution." (2009 vintage)

With this Riesling, we've decided to drop the entry-level Riesling of the domain and offer this "Lieu-Dit" instead, which represents a big step-up in quality for just a few extra pounds. This is a very classy and feminine cuvée, offering fresh flavours of citrus, grapefruit and white peach - and a long, complex finish. A truly elegant wine from...

If you've never tried a Gewurtztraminer, maybe this is time... because this is a great example, showing how special this grape is. It offers a sweet nose with explosive aromas of mango, passion fruit, rose and honey. Palate is heavy and complex but not too sweet. The ideal wine to drink with mild Asian food or blue cheese.å

Forget every cheap "Pinot Grigio" you've ever tasted, this is what it really is! You might choke when you hear the name of this "infamous" grape, but do you know that it originally came from Alsace and that a real winemaker's Pinot Gris has nothing to do with what you can get in your local pub! Coming from different parcels and 40 years old vines, this fruity Pinot Noir is charming and elegant. It also reminds us that when in the right hands, this grape has also a lot to offer in Alsace - and can often show better value than pricey, average bottles from Burgundy. A simple and direct Pinot Noir with plenty of fruits and very little oak....
