|What experts say|
91/100 "Quite clear and open on the concentrated nose with its spicy and floral, elegant aromas. It is pure, vivacious, very elegant and mineral on the palate, which combines the concentration of 2013 with the piquancy of the granite soils, and leads to a stringent and salty taste. This well-structured wine is richer and more powerful in style than the Sommerberg from Albert Boxler, but not as baroque as a Grand Cru Brand. Provided with a potent finish, it needs some years to get more sublime. Bottled with around 6 grams per liter residual sugar, the 2014 is dry yet not bone dry.” (2013 Vintage)
16.5/20 "Spicy and stony at the same time. Rounded out by the residual sugar and nicely balanced. Intense and zesty on the palate, especially compared with some of these 2013s." (2013 vintage)
90/100 "Lively, with ground spice and citrus zest notes, this bright white is light- to medium-bodied and shows flavors of crunchy white peach, slivered almond and lemon curd." (2013 vintage)
This Pinot Blanc is the first wine we tasted from Meyer-Fonné and it instantly caught our interest: just too good for the price... This "old vine" offers yummy flavours of yellow peach, white flowers and apple, with a beautiful freshness on the finish. Much more pleasant and complex than its price suggests.
With this Riesling, we've decided to drop the entry-level Riesling of the domain and offer this "Lieu-Dit" instead, which represents a big step-up in quality for just a few extra pounds. This is a very classy and feminine cuvée, offering fresh flavours of citrus, grapefruit and white peach - and a long, complex finish. A truly elegant wine from...
If you've never tried a Gewurtztraminer, maybe this is time... because this is a great example, showing how special this grape is. It offers a sweet nose with explosive aromas of mango, passion fruit, rose and honey. Palate is heavy and complex but not too sweet. The ideal wine to drink with mild Asian food or blue cheese.å
Forget every cheap "Pinot Grigio" you've ever tasted, this is what it really is! You might choke when you hear the name of this "infamous" grape, but do you know that it originally came from Alsace and that a real winemaker's Pinot Gris has nothing to do with what you can get in your local pub! Half made from "Grand Cru" classified vines, this stunning...
Coming from different parcels and 40 years old vines, this fruity Pinot Noir is charming and elegant. It also reminds us that when in the right hands, this grape has also a lot to offer in Alsace - and can often show better value than pricey, average bottles from Burgundy. A simple and direct Pinot Noir with plenty of fruits and very little oak....
Domaine Meyer-Fonné elaborates late harvest cuvées only during the best vintages, when exceptional and strict conditions are all met together. This Pinot Gris shows an unbelievable nose of flowers, spices and ripe apricot & melon. Palate is profound and perfectly balanced, telling a lot about how well this wine will develop in the years to come. When...
