Sancerre Blanc Ammonites 2012 - Domaine Roblin

This bottle is the top white Sancerre of the property, coming from the best parcels of "Terres blanches". It is made only during the best years, making it pretty rare. Produced naturally without any filtration, it shows an amazing complexity and a beautiful balance between minerality and fruit: lemon, grapefruit and apple are all over the mouth, while the wine remains crisp and fresh. Very long finish in the palate. Top quality, very special Sancerre.

A word about the domain
Matthias and Émile are the 4th generation of the Roblin Family to manage the property. Matthias took it over in 2000, joined by his brother Émile in 2006. They have developed the domain and converted it to "Agriculture Raisonnée". They are doing an amazing job making outstanding wines from the great "Terres Blanches" soils, made of Kimmeridgian Marls, very well known in the region. They have also upgraded their cellar drastically to control the fermentation better and improve the quality of all their wines.

What experts say
About the domain

About the wine
Wine Spectator : 87/100
“Light but pure, with a chiselled edge to the flint, chive and lime notes.”

Wine Enthusiast: 91/100
“Ammonites are the fossils found in the chalk soil of Sancerre. This wine certainly shows the right mineral texture, very crisp and tight. It’s full of citrus, zesty orange and apple skins. It needs to develop, wait until 2015.”

Guide Gilbert & Gaillard: 91/100
“Pale yellow with green tints. Very expressive mineral nose with a faint petrol touch and delicate grapefruit notes. Clean, nervy and fiery palate framed by fat and mineral to boot. A highly expressive Sancerre.”
