Château Ferrière 2011 - Margaux 3rd Cru Classé

Château Ferrière is the type of Bordeaux we like: following a period resting on its laurels and letting its reputation under attack, it has made huge efforts in the 90's to restore its former glory. They've done a tremendous job at bringing it back where is belongs, and prices are still very attractive for similar quality in the area. Made from 45 year-old vines, the 2011 boasts  classy flavours of cassis and black currant, sweet well- integrated tannins, wooden notes and vanilla on the finish. Just a beautiful Margaux.

What experts say

16.5/20 "Deep cherry Crimson. Sweet oak spice. some vanilla but the clean dark and cherry fruit seeps round the edges. Firm, dry but rounded and well balanced by freshness. Cool and clear and well directed and more to come even though it is not a big wine."

87-90/100 "Supple, with light iron and black tea hints weaving through the plum, black cherry and cassis flavors. A touch light in the end, but pretty."
16/20 "Elegant, subtle, savory, with a discreet palate and a fresh finish. Some floral notes."
"This wine, with is pleasant deep ruby colour, delivers a delicious, fruity nose with a touch of chocolate. Palate benefits from a fresh attack, well balanced between spicy / wooden notes and ripe fruit. Elegant structure and finesse."
