Château Nénin 2012 - Pomerol

"These may turn out to be the finest Pomerols Jean-Hubert Delon and his team have made to date as the 2012s are better than either the 2009s or 2010s" - Robert Parker (91-93 mark). Château Nénin has always been a major reference in Pomerol, and this is even more true with this beautiful and complex 2012. It shows an incredible aromatic intensity with explosive notes of ripe black fruit, plum, cedar and sweet spices. This is a highly complex bottle, showing you why Pomerol wines have this reputation.

4 years old is still relativity young for such a high-end red, we would therefore recommend to decant for at least 2 hours, ideally 4 or 6, if you are to drink it in a near future. And if you are able to keep it in your cellar for a few years, you will see how great aged Pomerols can be!

What experts say

91-93 "Composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the deep ruby / plum colored 2012 Nénin exhibits notes of spring flowers, blueberries, black raspberries and kirsch, a full-bodied, beautifully textured mouthfeel, terrific purity and a long finish. It should drink well for 15+ years." - "These may turn out to be the finest Pomerols Jean-Hubert Delon and his team have made to date as the 2012s are better than either the 2009s or 2010s."

16.5 "Dark Crimson. Sweet and juicy. But very dramatic start. Very pointed and direct. Very chewy tannins on the end."

 Tim Atkin

94 "Mariette Veyssiere's first vintage at this improving Pomerol (owned by the Delons of Léoville-Las-Cases since 1987) has coincided with one of its best ever wines. A delicious wine with considerable ageing potential, plush fruit flavours of plum and blackberry, hints of mint, orange zest  and liquorice and a sweet succulence that lingers on the palate".

17 "This velvety palate with structured tannins is a huge success. A nice freshness brings a great structure to this wine."

90 "Powerful structure. Lots of fruit and freshness. Will need time."
