Camille Malbec 2016 - Château du Cèdre

Camille Malbec is the first cuvée of Château du Cèdre, which is considered by many as a reference in Cahors. The estate was created in the early 1970’s by a Charles Verhaeghe and is now run by his two sons Pascal and Jean-Marc. They have turned the 27 hectares of vines to organic viticulture since 2012, with Malbec as the main grape, along with a few hectares of Tannat and Merlot. For this first cuvée, the Malbec grapes come from the 1st and 2nd terrasses of the Cahors Appellation and are vinified for just a few month in vats (no oak). The result is a round and fruity medium-bodied wine, with a soft and elegant palate of blackberries and small red fruits. Perfect by itself of with last minute dinner party!
