Origine 2015 Côteaux du Languedoc-Pezenas - Villa Symposia

Origine is the confidential upmarket cuvée of the Domaine - a big and rich red made of old Syrah and Grenache coming from the best parcels. Aged in foudres - a traditional type of oak barrels - for about 16 months, it is an elegant wine full of black fruit, which shows an impressive structure with stylish tannins. It is a perfect blend of refinement and power. It shows how beautiful a red Languedoc can be!

Robert-Parker

92/100 "Deeper in color than the l'Equilibre cuvée, the Syrah-dominated 2015 Languedoc l'Origine is a head-turner that’s loaded with notions of cassis, blackberries, crushed peppercorns and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, forward and elegant, with sweet tannin, drink it on release and over the following 6-7+ years."

Elaborated from old vines of Cabernet Franc - over 50 year-old - and matured in demi-muids (500-liter barrels), it really shows how complex a great Loire Cabernet Franc can be. Try and decant it for a couple of hours if you can and let the magic come to your glass....
