Madiran is one of the prestigious appellations in the South-West, famous for full-bodied, structured and aromatic red wines made from Tannat. Château Montus is THE prestigious name in Madiran - called "the Petrus of the South-West". The owner Alain Brumont has built this reputation entirely, drastically reducing yields over the years and using the best parcels for each grape. We love its flavour of red fruit purée, spices, cedar, tobacco and its super-long finish. If you like it, make sure you order a few more and keep them into your cellar!

|What experts say|
93/100 "The wine is impressive and packed with dense dark fruits. It comes from the showpiece estate of Madiran that was created by the iconic producer of the region, Alain Brumont. If this wine wasn't quite so intense, so overpowering and so alcoholic, it would be very great indeed. As it is, it will surely age and should not be drunk until 2020."
15/20 "Dense colour, heavy tannic weight on the palate. Very chewy. Not much fruit. Pretty hard work overall. (RH)"
91/100 "Muscular, with hefty tannins defining the steeped plum, grilled herb and black cherry flavors, this full-bodied red shows savory spice, hot stone and baker's chocolate details through the slate-accented finish. Drink now through 2030."
