Gewurtztraminer 2016 Alsace - Domaine Vincent Stoeffler

Gewurtztraminer is a famous local grape producing very fruity, slightly sweet and spicy white wines with low acidity - they are definitely unusual wines! This one has an explosive nose of ripe mango, yellow peach and papaya with delicate notes of rose and chilli. It is slightly sweet and has a super-long finish. Very special, very Gewurtztraminer!

87/100 "Earthy ripeness of peach and yellow plum abounds. The palate is rounded and medium sweet, suggesting jellied and crystallized fruit confections with an appetizingly tart edge. Drink soon." (previous vintage)

89/100 "The Gewurztraminer is very clear and open-hearted on the elegant nose which is dominated by the typical lychee and rose petal aromas. On the palate the wine is slightly sweet (20 grams of residual sugar) but also mineral and fresh and very well balanced. The finish is slightly salty and really stimulating. This is a very digestible Gewurztraminer for the next 5 to 10 years." (previous vintage)

We have been instantly charmed by this Pinot Noir coming from a specific plot (or "lieu-dit") in Ribeauvillé, developing complex aromas of black cherry and blackberry, with a welcome hint of sweet spices. Beautiful finish with silky tannins and a great minerality, very typical of this terroir. A great example of what Alsace can offer when it comes to red...

"An excellent and very delicate sparkling wine from Alsace that underlines the talents of Vincent Stoeffler" - Robert Parker. Made from a blend of different white grapes - Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois - it is a round, creamy and fruity Crémant delivering notes of peach and apricot. This is a great alternative to Champagne and our top pick for...

This organic Riesling, from the most typical grape in Alsace, is made from various old vines of Domaine Vincent Stoeffler. Intense notes of citrus and orange are nicely balanced with acidity, bringing a fresh tone into the wine. We particularly like the hint of honey on the finish. A great entry-level Riesling we were grateful to discover and that we...

"Vendanges Tardives" means the wine was made from grapes harvested later than usual, when the "noble rot" or Botrytis Cinerea starts to affect the grapes, making them loose almost all their water content. Thanks to its complex aromas and good acidity, Riesling is on of the most amazing grapes for late harvest wines - and you'll certainly realise it with...
