“This NV Châteauneuf du Pape La Reserve VII IX X […] blew me away” - Robert Parker (96/100). This Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend from over 100-year old vines - which you realise as soon as the glass is under your nose. But the most incredible part is that this blend is from 3 different vintages! 2007, 2009 and 2010 are all outstanding vintages in Châteauneuf-du-Pape which Xavier Vignon has decided to blend and the result is astonishing. This wine is rich and full-bodied with concentrated aromas of black fruit, spices and toast. “Absolutely delicious.” is all we can say. It is a must-try if you are keen on Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

A word about the producer
Initially a “flying winemaker” (Bordeaux, Champagne, Australia, New Zealand, California...), Xavier Vignon has become an oenologist and a consultant in the Southern Rhône Valley. He is now adviser to some of the most prestigious domains in the region, such as Le Nerthe and Grand Veneur. This activity allows him to source the best grapes to elaborate his wines. Since the late 90s, Xavier has spent most of his time in the Rhône Valley, developing modern techniques while keeping traditional methods with an amazing success.

What experts say
About the producer
Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate):
"I was blown away by these current and new releases. Across the board they showed beautifully made profiles, with not only loads of fruit and texture, but superb balance and classic Southern Rhone characters. In fact, each of the wines showed what I think of as textbook characteristics of the terroirs from which they come. In addition, the prices remain remarkably low, and these wines are a treasure trove for the savvy buyer."

About the wine
Robert Parker: 96
“While I reviewed this NV Châteauneuf du Pape La Reserve VII IX X (a blend from the 2007, 2009 and 2010 vintages) last year, I was able to taste it again this go around, and it still blew me away. Fabulously full-bodied and decadent, with loads of lavender, incense, black raspberry and cured-meat nuances, it’s still youthful and vibrant, with notable freshness and purity. Enjoy this brilliant wine through 2028.”

Describing Sacrilège is not a piece of cake. This cuvée was originally made following a “blending mistake” of Syrah and Grenache but it cannot benefit from any appellation except Vin de France. For this reason we are not allowed to specify where grapes are coming from but just have a guess – we are talking about the most prestigious places in his area of...
